Padlet as an alternative synchronous whiteboard

Abstract


Pandemic era is considered to be an obstacle to achieve and to reach particular competencies. This emerges as a result of the face-to-face mode being migrated to online learning. This study aims to describe the impact of using Padlet as an alternative to virtual synchronous whiteboards which allows teachers to carry out continuous professional development with minimal constraints. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method, which presents the results of research with a qualitative umbrella which is described in a descriptive narration. This study involved 12 teachers from 6 different schools in Cianjur Regency, West Java. The results of this study indicated that Padlet as a virtual whiteboard could: a) visualize ideas into oral, written, or pictorial forms, b) facilitate collaborative activities that encourage users to build social-educational responsibilities, and c) faciltate learning even the teachers are not at the same place. In short, it can be concluded that the use of Padlet allows professional competence to occur in virtual synchronous.
